‘Music with Mummy’ builds upon those skills learned during Jolly Babies – not just how to bang a drum or clap hands, but how to take turns and be a bit more independent of Mum (Dads, Grandparents or carers welcome too!). Through a variety of songs and actions (some well-known rhymes and others unique to the class), children are encouraged to jump, line dance, pour water (yes, really), roll a ball and to “shake those bells and stop”. There’s enough routine to make the children feel comfortable but, with themes changing every term, plenty to keep them interested. Both my children have attended ‘Jolly Babies’ and ‘Music with Mummy’, and we are now in ‘Three Four Time’ territory too. Both have enjoyed listening, watching and learning. Oh, and as a Mum I’ve enjoyed making friends with other Mums who attend: maybe for me that’s been one of the best bits!
